Publisher: Vintage Romance Publishing ISBN: 0-9785368-0-0 Release Date: 6/30/2006
Elizabeth MacAllister has problems. A best-selling romance novelist, she has a gigantic case of writers' block, which is not helped by her publisher's insisting she attend a writers' convention at a posh Canadian resort hotel. There she finds her former husband, once a lionized concert pianist, playing cocktail piano in the lobby bar. She also finds she isn't as indifferent to him as she would like to be. Things only become more complicated when a freak, late-season blizzard isolates the hotel. Then someone starts killing the best-selling authors. Will Elizabeth be next?
| LOST IN EGYPT - Book One of THE SANDS OF TIME |
By Janis Susan May
Publisher: Chippewa Publishing Release Date: 9/30/2006
When Elissa McLaughlin went on a package tour of Egypt, she certainly didn't expect time to slip nor that she would end up in the danger and intrigue-laden court of the woman pharaoh Hatshepsut. She expected even less to fall in love with Amun-Nakht, the handsome Army general who regarded her first as a pleasure woman, then as the solution to Egypt's perilous future. He claimed to love her, too, but showed no hesitation in risking her life to save the throne. Could Elissa survive the plots and wars of the ruthless ones who fought over Egypt? And, if offered the chance to return home to her own time, could she leave behind the man she loved?
| The Land of Heart's Delight |
By Janis Susan May et al
Publisher: Swimming Kangaroo Books Release Date: 7/1/2007
In 1940 my mother (and co-author) became a County Home Demonstration Agent in South Texas. It was part of the same state in which she had grown up, but a totally alien world. She had to deal with learning Spanish, arranging cows, unearthing snakes, making mattresses and just about everything else that came up. She also traveled extensively in Mexico, an exotic and dangerous land that was much less known then than it is today. For example, when she was in Acapulco there was one street and two hotels!
Mother always said she was going to write a book, but life got in the way and she passed away before she could write it. I grew up on her stories of her life in Brooks County, so I wrote the book, and that is why the authorship is listed as Aletha Barrett May and Janis Susan May.
The Land of Heart's Delight is a funny, sad, thoughtful window into a little-known time and place, neither of which we will see the like of again.
